About the Ranch

The 96 is located in the RM of Chesterfield No. 261, approximately 36 km northwest of the Town of Leader, SK. Access to the ranch is direct via County graveled grid roads with internal private roads which allow for year round access. The 96 Ranch has been one of western Canada’s premiere cattle ranches for over a hundred years. Bordered for six miles by the South Saskatchewan River, the native grassland has remained virtually unchanged.

There is an abundant fresh water supply, numerous springs, ponds and a flowing creek. The 96 Ranch contains one of the largest blocks of native grassland in Western Canada. Also lending to the Ranch’s distinctiveness, is its rolling topography. The rangeland is laced throughout with coulees and heavily forested areas that provide shelter. Cattle are able to graze and fatten throughout the year on the native grasses.

There are 450 acres of irrigated land on the north side of the South Saskatchewan River. One hundred and thirty acres are serviced by a 1988 Valley Electric Pivot with recent upgrades while the remaining balance is flood irrigated.

Under the management of Jack Reiger, the Ranch has been improved with a main residence, two smaller dwellings, working corrals, feedlot pens, a horse barn, shops, and support buildings.
